The Research Process, Step by Step
A thesis is built in stages. This is the path Dr. Kakali suggests, and where each stage meets the UGC requirements. Her guidance complements your registered supervisor and Research Advisory Committee; it does not replace them.
1. Topic and question: choose a topic, read around it and frame a research question.
2. Proposal: outline the study and get it approved by your committee.
3. Literature review: map existing work and find the gap your research fills.
4. Methodology: choose the framework, the data or texts, and the method of analysis.
5. Analysis: collect and analyse, or interpret the primary texts closely.
6. Writing: draft chapters and revise them with feedback.
7. Integrity check and presentation: check citations and similarity, then present to your committee.
8. Submission and viva: submit, respond to examiners' comments and defend the thesis.
